Chelsea Green Has Raunchy Throwback Idea For WWE Pairing With Matt Cardona
If it were up to Chelsea Green, she would get to be together with her husband, Matt Cardona, on WWE TV, and they’d have a lot of fun together.
Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona have been married for over four years. They are also both finally WWE superstars at the same time after the company re-signed Cardona to start 2026, while Green has been under contract for over three years.
Even though most fans know that Green and Cardona are married, it hasn’t been mentioned on SmackDown yet. They also haven’t interacted on television yet.
For now, Green is a heel former 2-time Women’s US Champion who is also one half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions, while Cardona is a babyface getting cheered by the fans.
In an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Chelsea Green admitted that she thinks about being paired with Cardona all the time. She also mentioned a previous wrestling couple known for their aggressive kissing and doing other things on camera.
“Oh my gosh. I mean, I struggle with that all the time because obviously I’m currently with Ethan and my AAA mix tag team—Ethan Page and Chelsea Green. So, you know, there’s always like a… am I with… like, are we in a big group? Or—I don’t know.
But I—I would love if Matt and I were together to really bring back the nasty Attitude Era couple. Like just dirty and like ew. You’re like, ‘They’re kind of cool, but like why are they making out like that?’ Like, you know what I mean? Just like Lita and Edge… and just like… you know… like stuff like that.”
Chelsea Green Welcomes Nostalgia In WWE
It’s worth noting that Edge’s memorable pairing with Lita was in 2005-06 in the Ruthless Aggression Era, rather than the Attitude Era. The product was also TV-14 in those days, rather than the TV PG environment that exists now for WWE.
On the subject of nostalgia, like Edge and Lita, Green supports fans thinking about it when it comes to her and Cardona.
“And we love it. And we love it. We’re still talking about it. The nostalgia runs so deep in WWE. And one thing that fans love is a storyline that’s like… brought back to life. They love to feel like they’re in on it. Um, and like they already know what’s going to happen or they—they can relate to it already. And so I think like a good Attitude Era couple would be great.”
Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona were both in action on WWE SmackDown in London, with both of them picking up losses. Green lost a short match to SmackDown newcomer Jordynne Grace, while Cardona lost to Trick Williams in a match that was part of the #1 Contenders WWE Title qualifying tournament.
