A well-known wrestling free agent is likely going to be working for AEW or WWE in the very near future.

Taya Valkyrie has had a very successful career over the last decade. She has won championships in multiple promotions including Impact Wrestling where she was the longest reigning Knockouts Champion for a record 377 days. Valkyrie is also a two-time and current Knockouts Tag Team Champion.

As for her future, Valkyrie wasn’t under contract to any promotion while working for Impact, MLW, NWA, AAA and other independent promotions.

In February 2021, Valkyrie signed with WWE using the name Franky Monet on the NXT brand. She did get to wrestle a few times in NXT, but then she was released in November 2021.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week had an update on Valkyrie’s wrestling future noting that she is expected to return to WWE or debut with AEW soon.

“Valkyrie finished up with Impact as she was working with both companies [Impact and MLW] and on occasion AAA, where she still holds their Reina de Reinas title. She is not committed [to MLW] for a long time either. She is likely going to AEW or WWE and whichever one is supposed to be made clear within a short period of time.”

This past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, TBS Champion Jade Cargill issued a challenge to a Canadian woman for a match next week on Dynamite because it’s taking place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Since Valkyrie is a Canadian from British Columbia, many people believe that she will debut for AEW as Cargill’s challenger.

In the Friday Daily Update on the Wrestling Observer website, Dave Meltzer wrote that Taya Valkyrie was the favorite to debut on AEW Dynamite next week although it’s not official yet.

“Taya Valkyrie has become the betting favorite to be the surprise opponent of Jade Cargill in Winnipeg. This is not official, only that Cargill will defend her title against a mystery woman from Canada. It’s either The Bunny or somebody new to the company and we do know Valkyrie has an agreement to start with either WWE or AEW very shortly.”

If Valkyre were to return to WWE, perhaps she would get a shot on the main roster, which is something she didn’t get to do in the past.

Taya Valkyrie has been married to well-known professional wrestler John Hennigan (Morrison/Nitro) since June 2018.
