Beloved WWE Star Confirms Retirement Is Near Following AJ Styles
A major WWE talent has admitted to retirement being near.
Jey Uso made the revelation during a recent appearance on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast.
Jey is a former World Heavyweight Champion and one-half of the current tag team champions with his brother, Jimmy Uso, on Raw.
After spending a good portion of his time as a singles wrestler since 2023, the 40-year-old joined his twin to return to the tag team division.
On the December 29 episode of the red brand, the twins defeated AJ Styles and Dragon Lee to become the WWE Tag Team Champions for the 9th time.
Meanwhile, Styles lost his singles match to Gunther at the 2026 Royal Rumble. The stipulation of the bout suggested that if The Phenomenal One lost, he would have to retire from wrestling.
In 2025, Gunther retired Goldberg and John Cena.
Jey Uso Discusses WWE Retirement
Three wrestlers of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles’ repute retiring within a space of a few months is bound to affect the company’s talent roster in some way.
While its effects are not directly visible to fans, the wrestlers’ actions often serve as an indication.
Speaking to Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso admitted that they are closer to the end of their career than farther from it despite being in the top shape of their lives.
I’mma be honest, man. We ain’t young bugs no more. We kind of like on our way out, if we want to go out. I still feel strong. I still feel good. I look good, Uce. Man, like I’m ready to go, man. 15 more years, I’m with it. I’m down. This is all. I love wrestling. I’m gonna give my life. I have. This ain’t no job. We grew up in the game. That’s the difference.
On next week’s WWE Raw episode in Cleveland, The Usos will defend their tag titles against Alpha Academy’s Akira Tozawa and Otis.
