Becky Lynch Drops WWE Retirement Bombshell
At 39, Becky Lynch remains one of the top superstars in WWE.
Since returning to the company after a 11-month hiatus in April 2025, Lynch has mainly competed in the midcard, challenging for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
After turning on Lyra Valkyria, she won the IC title from her compatriot at Money in the Bank, holding on to it for a record 163 days.
She reclaimed it from Maxxine Dupri, only to lose it again to AJ Lee after 54 days. Lynch and Lee are scheduled to compete for the title at WrestleMania 42 in less than four weeks.
Being one of the performers on the older side, Becky Lynch often gets questions about her imminent retirement.
Over the last year, WWE has witnessed the retirements of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, all of whom were part of major storylines at different points in their respective careers.
Lynch’s husband, Seth Rollins, also 39, has claimed that he is closer to his retirement than farther away from it. The Irish superstar recently shared her thoughts on bidding goodbye to the industry.
Becky Lynch Aware Of Time Running Out On Her Wrestling Career
Becky Lynch was one of the wrestlers extensively featured on Season 2 of WWE: Unreal.
She spoke about how being on the road constantly has affected her relationship with her daughter. She went on to state that her current contract with the company would be her last.
Lynch recently spoke to Peter Rosenberg on the Cheap Heat podcast, where she was asked if she knew how she was planning to say goodbye to fans whenever her time came.
No, uh, because I think I’ll always be involved in some capacity, you know, in some way. So, yeah, I don’t think I need to be worried about the retirement run. I’ll say, this has been an age, you know, like, when I think of the talent that we have right now, the Seth Rollins, the Sami Zayns, the Cenas, the Finn Balors, the Charlottes…you know, we’re all gonna be aging out at some point around the same time.
Then there’s going to be a whole new era…it’s not probably that far off, like, we are all closer to the end than we are in the beginning. There’s gonna be a lot of us eventually. So, maybe we should all just shut up and appreciate me while we have me.
