Irish eyes were smiling at NXT Halloween Havoc but for once, not at Becky Lynch.
Becky Lynch opened the October 3rd episode of NXT looking for her next challenger, with Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez, and Indi Hartwell all answering the call. A Triple Threat was announced, where the winner would face Lynch for the title at Halloween Havoc Night One on October 24th.
Ultimately Lyra Valkyria was able to take advantage of Kiana James’ interference in the bout to pick up the win and guarantee an all-Irish NXT Women’s Championship match at Halloween Havoc.
Becky Lynch loses to Lyra Valkyria
In the main of NXT Halloween Havoc on October 24th, the two women clashed in a back-and-forth match. Lynch looked like she had things won when she delivered her Man Handle Slam but Valkyria kicked out at two. As the champion went for another one, the challenger was able to roll her up for the shock three count to become NXT Women’s Champion for the first time in her career.
After the bout, Becky Lynch took the title belt from the referee and presented it to the new champion herself in a show of respect.
The two women were being watched closely during their match as WWE newcomer Jade Cargill was spectating things from a throne in the crowd.
