Becky Lynch Relationship Allegedly Saved WWE Star From Release
Becky Lynch is one of WWE’s top superstars, and her words carry weight.
She is the current Women’s Intercontinental Champion in an unprecedented third stint, which began at WrestleMania 42 following her victory over AJ Lee.
Lynch is also a 7-time singles world champion, joint-second only to Charlotte Flair (14).
‘The Man’ returned to WWE from an 11-month absence last year at WrestleMania, where she teamed up with compatriot Lyra Valkyria to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship from The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
The following night on Raw, the title again changed hands between the four women, which led to Becky viciously attacking Lyra and turning heel in the process.
Since then, Becky Lynch has dominated the mid-card, setting up feuds with several female wrestlers, including Lyra Valkyria.
While the two superstars are rivals on screen, Lyra is self-admittedly a fan of Lynch, and their rapport was extensively depicted on Season 2 of WWE: Unreal.
While Lyra Valkyria is a regular on TV, she has often been criticized for her mic work and a few botches time and again.
During the latest episode of The Coach & Bro podcast, Vince Russo took a direct jab at Valkyria, dubbing her ‘Velcro’ and saying that if it was not for her friendship with Lynch, she would have been fired after WrestleMania.
Guys, listen. Lyra Velcro, why does she have a job, and Kairi Sane doesn’t? Fair question. Well, let’s look at that. We know Lyra Velcro is girls with Becky Lynch, and we know Becky Lynch is married to Seth Rollins, and we know Seth Rollins is Triple H’s boy. That’s why. And that’s what this company is built on. Becky Lynch Defeats Former WWE Women’s World Champion On Raw
At WrestleMania 42, Becky Lynch closed the door on her rivalry with AJ Lee for good, which had been ongoing since last September.
On April 27, she spoke about making history at WrestleMania by becoming the 3-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion. She also revealed that she had won four different titles at the Show of Shows.
She then lashed out at the live audience for a while, claiming to know that they wanted her to be a fighting champion. She acknowledged that and issued an open challenge to any female wrestler who was in the locker room.
This prompted former WWE Women’s World Champion IYO SKY to come out.
Lynch undermined her by calling her Marty Jannetty to Rhea Ripley’s Shawn Michaels. SKY then assaulted her, forcing the champion to escape out of the ring. However, Raw GM Adam Pearce made their title match official.
While both superstars traded offenses, SKY regained her advantage in the closing minutes. As she attempted a move from the apron into the ring, Asuka interfered and caused her to fall hard on the apron.
Lynch took advantage of the distraction and hit SKY with the Manhandle Slam for a victory.
Later on the show, a match between Asuka and IYO SKY was made for Backlash on May 9. It remains to be seen who Lynch’s next title challenger is.
