Becky Lynch On WWE Return – “I Was Ready To Come Back At WrestleMania”

Becky Lynch mentioned in a recent interview that there were plans for her to return to WWE at WrestleMania this year instead of SummerSlam.

Lynch made her surprising return to WWE at SummerSlam last month when Sasha Banks was unable to compete against Bianca Belair as scheduled. After Lynch sent Carmella out of ring to take her out of the picture, Becky challenged Belair to put her Smackdown Women’s Title on the line. Belair was a bit reluctant, but she accepted.

When the match began, the two women shook hands, then Lynch delivered a forearm to the face and hit the Manhandle Slam to win the Smackdown Women’s Title in just 26 seconds.

In a recent interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Lynch revealed that there were plans for her to come back to WWE much earlier, way back in April at WrestleMania 37.

“So gosh, I mean, look… I mean, I thought I was going to be back by ‘Mania. I was ready to come back at ‘Mania. But look, look, I got called for SummerSlam. I stayed ready. I stayed ready. I stayed ready because I’m a hero of the people, Man of the people. I was. Now they’re changing their mind. I mean, that’s on them. Anyway, I didn’t change. They changed. I believe the original return date was going to be October.”

The reason the original return date was going to be October could have been because the WWE Draft takes place on October 1 and October 4.

Prior to her return at SummerSlam, Lynch last wrestled at WrestleMania 36 in 2020 when she defeated Shayna Baszler. Shortly after that, Lynch announced she was pregnant with her first child. In December 2020, Lynch and her now-husband Seth Rollins welcomed their daughter Roux into the world. Following the birth of their daughter, there were plenty of rumors about when Lynch would come back. Becky and Seth were married in June 2021.

As for the immediate future, Lynch is currently on tour with WWE in the United Kingdom for several shows. Lynch will also put the Smackdown Women’s Title on the line this Sunday against Bianca Belair at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
