Bad News For WWE Universe? Major Update On Chris Jericho Before Royal Rumble

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is rumored to make his WWE return at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, reports started emerging that Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW had come to an end on December 31, 2025.

Jericho has not been with AEW ever since losing his ROH Championship to Bandido in a ROH World Title Vs. Mask back in April 2025.

His absence from Tony Khan’s roster for such a long period had pretty much convinced everyone that he was done with AEW.

It was also reported that the Stamford-based promotion had offered Jericho a retirement contract if and when he decides to return to WWE.

By now, fans were confident that Jericho would end up returning at the Royal Rumble.

However, the Royal Rumble is just a few days away, and Chris Jericho is still featured on AEW’s official roster page.

This strongly suggests that he is still a part of AEW, which means he may not return to WWE at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh this Saturday.

Another Ex-AEW Champion Expected To Return At WWE Royal Rumble

Chris Jericho is not the only ex-AEW Champion who is expected to show up at the Royal Rumble this weekend.

Former AEW TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs recently departed Tony Khan’s promotion after his contract expired earlier this month.

The ex-AEW star has reportedly signed with the Stamford-based promotion. According to fans and critics, he is likely to make his big WWE debut at the Royal Rumble.
