AEW Star’s Sickening Injury Confirmed As Dynamite Match Goes Wrong

What could have been a landmark night in a new AEW star’s career ended in complete disaster.

The January 28th edition of Dynamite featured several big matches as AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander successfully defended her title against Thekla, and Mark Briscoe held on to his TNT Title as he ended the winning streak of El Clon.

Briscoe then issued an open challenge for his title for the next edition of Collision, only for that to be answered by former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, just days after he confirmed his exit from WWE.

Kenny Omega picked up a victory over Rocky Romero, and there was more bad news for The Don Callis Family as FTR retained the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Davis and Doyle. But losing the match was the least of Jake Doyle’s problems.

New AEW Star Suffers Torn Bicep

During the bout, Doyle received an apron DDT from Cash Wheeler, and he could soon be heard telling his opponent that he had torn his bicep. That injury has now been confirmed by the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez.

This was only Jake Doyle’s second match in AEW after joining the company from TNA. He immediately joined the ever-increasing Don Callis Family upon his debut and formed a new intimidating tag team with former Aussie Open star Mark Davis.

The only bright spot in the night for The Don Callis Family came in the main event when Andrade El Idolo picked up a victory over Swerve Strickland.
