AEW Star Was 24 Hours Away From Death

Kenny Omega was back on AEW Dynamite as things descended into chaos in the company and despite his illness, his old friends attacked.

Tony Khan was attacked by The Elite on Dynamite with the AEW boss forced to be absent when the show emanated from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada one week later. In his absence, The Young Bucks took over in their role as EVPs with power clearly going to their heads.

On the show, Kenny Omega made his first appearance on AEW television in almost five months. The former AEW World Champion has been battling diverticulitis which means he’s unable to compete and it’s likely to be that way for quite some time.

Omega had been publicly fired from The Elite but reminded Matthew and Nicholas Jackson that he was also an EVP and held some stroke in the company they were trying to take over.

However, Kenny Omega was candid when he discussed his battle against illness on Dynamite in Winnipeg, revealing that the doctor had told him he was lucky he was admitted to hospital when he did and he was possibly 24 hours away from dying.

Omega was confronted by his old NJPW rival Kazuchika Okada before he was attacked by Jack Perry who nailed The Best Bout Machine in the stomach with a steel chair. The Young Bucks joined the fray, nailing Omega with an EVP Trigger before FTR ran in to run The Elite off and make the save.

It remains unknown when Kenny Omega will be able to return to the ring in AEW but he did tell Okada to give him “a few months” during their confrontation indicating that a comeback is still very much part of his plan.
