AEW Star Almost Landed Leading Role In Obsession
Obsession is currently generating a lot of buzz among movie fans, so much so that an AEW star had to come out with an unexpected confession.
Since parting ways with Willow Nightingale after a successful Women’s World Tag Team Championship run, Harley Cameron has been on the road to finding her next challenge.
While she has not featured in a steady rivalry, Cameron has teamed up with Mina Shirakawa on multiple occasions in AEW and Ring of Honor.
The 32-year-old wrestler recently joined the Obsession bandwagon with a now-deleted Instagram post, wherein she revealed that she came close to being cast as the lead character in the movie, but lost out to Inde Navarrette.
Cat is out of the bag – I auditioned for obsession and was told it nearly was me who got cast , I wanted to share my passionate audition and thank @curry.barker for the opportunity and of course congratulations to @indenavarrette – apparently it came down to us two and I am honored.
Why Did Harley Camero Delete Her Obsession Post?
At the time of writing this, Harley Cameron’s post about herself being nearly cast in Obsession has been deleted.
Apparently, the AEW star’s post received huge traction, promoting the former Women’s World Tag Team Champion to remove it.
Turns out that Cameron was only joking, but admitted that it did not necessarily land in the way she had expected.
In separate posts, she clarified that it was plain satire.
Guys oh my gosh it was satire.
I had to take it down because the joke didn’t hit the way I planned – I was being AUSTRALIAN and terrible at acting hahahaha.
Harley Cameron Received Offers Outside AEW
Despite not being one of the top-tier talents on the AEW roster, Harley Cameron has admitted to receiving offers outside of the company.
Apart from wrestling, the Australian sensation also pursues life in music and ventriloquism.
While speaking to Scott Fishman of TVInsider, Harley claimed that she keeps herself active socially by performing in other industries.
I still actively get to perform in other industries. I’m always performing as a singer, actor, musician, and I do comedy. I get to do all that now. We’re really lucky we get to do external projects while working at AEW, which is one of the amazing things Tony (Khan) lets us do. I think that’s why it’s very evident that my focus is on wrestling because I’ve done a lot of other stuff. It’s fun and I still enjoy it, but nothing makes me feel what wrestling does.
She also revealed that she had been contacted by individuals outside the wrestling industry for opportunities.
I will say just for privacy reasons I won’t say specifically who. I will say I did have a lot of people reach out with opportunities because they’ve seen the show. You never know. Some of that might be evident in the future with the things I’m working on currently. But I think it’s fantastic because people have seen our show and reached out to me about other things. I just think how cool it is that my other walks of life, whether it’s the puppetry, the music, or the wrestling itself has brought a new audience in.
Some people who have reached out to me haven’t been watching wrestling actively and saw a clip of me doing something performatively and started to go and see about AEW. I think it’s cool to see something pop off on the internet that might attract a new audience to wrestling, which I think is such a cool concept. [H/T: Wrestlezone.com]
