AEW Proves Seriousness About Ex- WWE Star With Major Move

Former WWE star Tommaso Ciampa recently joined AEW.

Ciampa made his AEW debut on the January 28 edition of Dynamite, where he challenged Mark Briscoe for the TNT Championship. Three days later on Collision, he defeated Briscoe to win the title, becoming the new TNT Champion.

WWE Analyst Sam Roberts: Tommaso Ciampa Is “Incredible”

On the latest edition of Notsam Wrestling, WWE analyst Sam Roberts commented on Ciampa’s title victory in AEW. Roberts stated that Tony Khan putting the TNT Championship on Ciampa just three days after his AEW debut shows that Khan has a great deal of faith in him and is very serious about Ciampa and his push in the company.

Roberts said, “Last week it gets announced that he’s no longer going to be with the WWE. He had a great debut appearance on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday. Challenges Mark Brisco to a match for the TNT Championship. Goes to Collision. Beats Mark Briscoe. Tommaso Ciampa is the TNT champion in AEW.”

“I love this move. I think that Mark Briscoe is a made, made, made man. He is awesome, and I don’t think that anybody thinks he’s more or less awesome based on whether or not he’s wearing a gold belt.”

“I don’t think this takes one iota away from Mark Briscoe. But I think what it does do is it immediately shows you that AEW is serious about Tommaso Ciampa […] I think that Champa is incredible, he’s so great.” (From 1:01:26 to 1:02:56)
