AEW Announce Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament

MJF standing in an AEW ring

AEW is looking for a new challenger for MJF.

All In was probably the biggest night in the career of MJF as he walked away from Wembley Stadium with two title belts around his waist. The Salt of the Earth started the night on the pre-show where he teamed with Adam Cole as Better Than You Bay-Bay defeated Aussie Open for the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship.

His night got even better in the main event in a whirlwind match that teased Cole and MJF finally turning on each other as they battled for the AEW World Championship. MJF escaped with that title but perhaps even more importantly, he and Adam Cole remained brochachos for life and ended the night embracing each other.

New AEW Title contender on the horizon for MJF

But heavy is the head that wears the crown and the weight on MJF’s head has now doubled with he and Adam Cole set to defend their ROH Tag Team Championship at All Out while he now also has to worry about a new number one contender for his AEW World Title at Grand Slam.

The company announced that a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament will begin on Dynamite on the 6th of September with the winner of the 8-man competition challenging MJF at Grand Slam on September 20th in New York City.

None of the eight men were officially announced but Roderick Strong announced his intention to be part of the tournament in an in-ring segment with Adam Cole.
