Will Ospreay came back as a surprise at AEW Revolution, and it was earlier than what they originally planned.

There were some big surprises at the AEW Revolution PPV in Los Angeles, including the former International Champion Will Ospreay.

At AEW Forbidden Door in August 2025, Ospreay was attacked by Jon Moxley’s Death Riders group and was taken away on a stretcher. That was just a storyline way of writing Ospreay out of action because he needed neck surgery.

On the March 18th edition of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay was back in the ring as he defeated Blake Christian in a match that was 182 days after neck surgery. After six months out of the ring, Ospreay showed no ring rust as he picked up the win with the Hidden Blade elbow.

AEW Had Other Plans For Will Ospreay

Following his return, Will Ospreay posted on X that he was cleared to return on February 25th.

Double fusion Surgery date: 17th September 2025

Got cleared: 25th February 2026

Back: 15th March 2026

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer, the news of Ospreay being cleared to return was kept quiet. The plan was for Ospreay to return on a different show and promote the AEW All In London tickets, which are on sale on March 20th. The idea was that if Ospreay returned on another show like Dynamite, then his return could be used to promote All In tickets being on sale.

It was also noted by Meltzer that Ospreay returned less than six months after he underwent double fusion neck surgery, which is a fast recovery for a procedure of that nature.

After picking up a victory on Dynamite, Ospreay called out Jon Moxley. After Moxley showed up, Will jumped over the barricade and attacked Moxley with punches. Wheeler Yuta grabbed Will, so Will beat him up. Will threw a garbage can at Moxley. Will teased a big move, but Pac went into the ring and hit a pump kick. Pac applied the Brutalizer submission on Will. After that was broken up, Will was able to break free and went after Pac in the crowd. They went fighting to the back.

While an Ospreay-Moxley match down the road seems likely, it appears as if Ospreay has to get by Pac first.
