Adam “Edge” Copeland Reflects On Huge WWE Anniversary
Adam “Edge” Copeland shared some thoughts on one of the biggest moments of his wrestling career.
Wrestling fans love anniversaries of big moments, and when looking back on the legendary career of WWE Hall of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland, January 26 is always going to be an important date in his career.
January 26, 2020, was the date of the 2020 WWE Royal Rumble, which saw Edge return to the WWE ring for the first time in 9 years after retiring in 2011 due to a serious neck injury.
While Edge didn’t win that Rumble match that Drew McIntyre was able to conquer, nobody will forget his return as the 21st entrant in the match and the explosion of the crowd in Houston.
In a video on Instagram, Cope spoke about that 2020 edition of the Royal Rumble and his return to the ring.
“So I didn’t realize that today is six years to the day since I came back at the Royal Rumble. For me, every second after that first ‘You Think You Know Me’ at the Rumble in Houston has been a success.
You know the story, I wasn’t supposed to do this, yet here we are six years later. If you told me six years ago that I’d still be doing this after six years I’d have thought you were a little crazy, but man, I’ve been so lucky.”
The Former Edge Admits He’s “Coming Close To End”
At the age of 53, the AEW wrestling legend knows that the end is near for his career. In the last few years, he has been busy in the ring, rehabbing injuries and filming television shows outside of wrestling, too. Copeland also knows he won’t be wrestling for that much longer.
“I feel like I got my dream career twice, I got to do it the first time, retire for nine years, then got it back again. That’s good stuff, but I’m also a realist and I know I’m coming close to the end here.
So hopefully you’ve enjoyed this ride, if you haven’t, whatever, and if you have, great, little bit more to go. So yeah thank you, thanks for reminding me, yeah just reflecting on what has been a 4 decade career now.
With everything that I did in WWE and then to move to AEW with a whole fresh slate of new opponents, and for six years now just been wrestling a lot of the talent I never thought I’d get to but have been able to get in there with.
So that’s been a blast, and I’m at a stage in life where I don’t do it unless it is a blast. So yeah, anyway, thanks.”
In 2025, Copeland reunited with best friend, Christian Cage, in an AEW ring as the two men tagged up multiple times. This was a welcome sight for fans after they feuded earlier in their AEW careers.
