Adam Copeland Set For First AEW Title Match

Adam Copeland

Adam Copeland has got his wish and will challenge his old friend Christian Cage for the TNT Championship in their home country of Canada.

Ever since Adam Copeland surprised everyone when he debuted for AEW at WrestleDream, he has been on a collision course with his old friend and long-time tag team partner Christian Cage.

Copeland wanted to reunite with Cage to have one last run side-by-side in the twilight of their careers but the narcissistic TNT Champion wasn’t having it, famously telling Copeland “Go f*ck yourself.”

The two men were on opposite sides at Full Gear as Copeland teamed with Sting and Darby Allin to defeat Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne. Adam Copeland’s team won after Cage accidentally hit Luchasaurus with the TNT Title before running away through the crowd. As a result, Christian Cage rechristened Luchasaurus as Killswitch as punishment for him taking the pinfall.

Worse was to come, however, as Shayna Wayne appeared to apparently try and talk sense into her son Nick and get her out of the clutches of Cage. She ended up knocked to the ground when Cage pushed Luchasaurus into her but Adam Copeland made the save before Cage could deliver a con-chair-to to her. Instead, he nailed Nick Wayne with the sickening chair shot in front of his mother before challenging Christian Cage for his TNT Championship.

Adam Copeland vs. Christian Cage At AEW Dynamite Is On

On Dynamite in Minneapolis, Copeland and Cage came face-to-face once again as the TNT Champion spoke about Copeland’s own mother and father as he tried to weasel his way out of facing his old friend. Copeland looked emotional but as Cage tried to attack with the title belt, Copeland kicked him below the belt before telling his old friend “Nice try.”

Adam Copeland signed off with a “Go f*ck yourself” of his own and later in the show it was announced that the match between Copeland and Cage for the TNT Title was official for the 6th of December edition of Dynamite in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Copeland will need to hope that neither Killswitch nor Nick Wayne gets involved, or that he doesn’t feel the wrath of Shayna Wayne for what he did to her wayward son.
