3 Questions Pat McAfee Answered After WWE SmackDown Heel Turn On Cody Rhodes
Randy Orton kicked off WWE SmackDown tonight in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri, where he addressed Cody Rhodes and their upcoming match at WrestleMania 42.
He reiterated that he will be the one to emerge victorious at the Show of Shows, as Rhodes isn’t a killer like himself. The Undisputed WWE Champion then came out and began brawling with his challenger, before Pat McAfee made a shocking return on the show.
However, this was a completely different McAfee from what the WWE Universe remembered, as he immediately got in Cody’s face and kicked him in the groin. His actions raised a lot of questions which he answered during his promo tonight.
1) Who is Randy Orton’s Mystery Caller?
For the last few weeks, Randy Orton had been seen talking on the phone with someone who helped him realize what he needed to do to become a 15-time WWE World Champion.
Orton claimed that the mystery caller reminded him to listen to the voices again, raising intrigue among the fans over who the caller could be. After making his appearance on the blue brand tonight, McAfee revealed that he was the person Randy was talking to on the phone.
McAfee revealed that he was the one on the phone who told Orton to kill everyone, not just for his 15th World Title, but because the business Cody is leading is terrible, and Randy will be the one to save the business.
2) Why did he quit WWE?
During his rant on the show, McAfee even revealed why he had left the promotion and what went through his mind when people asked him about his WWE return during a QnA he did about a month ago.
He felt that the business, which he had loved since he was a kid, had passed him by. He even claimed that he couldn’t watch what it had become anymore and straight up called the current product “s**t”.
3) Why did he align with Randy Orton?
The biggest question everyone had on their mind after Pat attacked Cody was why did he choose to side with The Viper. McAfee revealed that after his statement about the business passing him by, Randy called and explained to him.
The former NFL star said that Randy explained that the business didn’t pass him by; it’s just gone in a direction that none of us like. The Viper then told McAfee that by us, he means the fans who had been with the company in the past.
Randy represented the fans who supported the company during the Attitude Era, with Pat being one of them, and these fans had been forgotten about by the current product. This proved to be the main reason behind this alliance between Pat McAfee and Randy Orton, which led McAfee to believe that Orton would save the business.
