3 Directions For Finn Balor Heading Into WWE Royal Rumble
Finn Balor is one of the most beloved superstars on the WWE roster currently, and fans often feel that he is being under-appreciated by the promotion. Balor has an amazing connection with the fans, and they love to see him being pushed more often on the shows.
He was the first Universal Champion but relinquished the title after holding it for a day due to an injury, and was never given the title again by the promotion. Fans are clamouring for the former leader of the Bullet Club to win a World Championship once again.
He came close to winning the championship once again last week on WWE RAW, but eventually lost to CM Punk. It seemed like Balor was heading in a new direction as he began showing signs of a face turn last week.
He came out to a huge reception in Northern Ireland, got his original theme song back, and even shared a moment of respect with Punk, before throwing that down the drain on tonight’s episode. Following his attack on Punk tonight, there are three possible directions for the Prince heading into the Royal Rumble.
1) Another WWE World Title Shot At Royal Rumble 2026
The best way for the promotion to capitalize on Balor’s renewened popularity would be to have him face off against Punk once again at the Royal Rumble this weekend.
Being the champion, Punk isn’t going to be a part of the Rumble and doesn’t have a match scheduled for the event till now. Balor hasn’t had a singles World Championship match at a PLE since facing Seth Rollis at Summerslam 2023.
Having Balor face Punk once again for the World Championship seems the most logical step in the storyline, considering that it’s clear that things are far from over between the two.
2) Surprise Entrant in the WWE Royal Rumble 2026
Till the main event of Monday Night RAW tonight, it seemed like Balor was heading towards a face turn on the show. He reached out to Adam Pearce to declare himself for the Royal Rumble, and that’s where things took a turn for Balor.
He was informed by the RAW General Manager that with only days remaining for the big event, all spots have already been filled and there aren’t any spots left for the Prince to enter in the Rumble.
Despite Pearce’s statement, there are ways that Balor can enter the Rumble. He can take any wrestler out before they enter the ring and enter in that person’s spot, like how iShowspeed entered in place of Akira Tozawa last year. With Rey Mysterio suffering a legitimate injury on RAW earlier tonight, Balor could enter in his place as well if he can’t make it to the event.
3) Return of the Demon Persona
The Demon Finn Balor persona is one which is extremely over with the fans and they’re always craving to see the Demon return. Balor hasn’t brought the persona back since Night Two of WWE WrestleMania 39, where he faced Edge as the Demon.
He’s stated in the past that he’s open to return the persona and following his actions on RAW tonight, it could be the best moment to bring back his Demon persona at the Royal Rumble.
He can either wrestle Punk for the title as the Demon, making the match feel completely different from the one that took place last week, or can enter the WWE Royal Rumble as the Demon, which would instantly make him one of the favorites to win the Rumble.
