The first three matches for NXT Takeover Wargames II on November 17 were officially announced during this week’s NXT broadcast. The show will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles during Survivor Series weekend. It’s the second year where WWE is using the WarGames theme during their November Takeover event.

The three huge matches announced this week are:

NXT Championship: Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteeen Dream

WarGames Match: The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) vs. Pete Dunne, Ricochet, and War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe)

Johnny Gargano vs. Aleister Black

A typical NXT Takeover event has five matches over 2 hours and 30 minutes, so I expect there to be a NXT Women’s Championship match on the show. Another match could be Matt Riddle’s NXT Takeover debut against Kassius Ohno because that’s a rumor for Riddle’s first feud with Riddle going over the veteran Ohno to make a big splash as a “rookie” in NXT.

Here’s a video showing you how the WarGames match was officially made by NXT’s General Manager William Regal.

TJR Thoughts: Those first three matches announced are all going to be amazing. I’m so excited for Velveteen Dream stepping up to get a NXT Title match. I have my doubts about him winning, but I think just seeing him competing at that level is great for him.

The WarGames match should be outstanding just like last year. My only complaint with last year was that it was three teams in the match, so I like that it’s more of a traditional 4 on 4 match. I think Ricochet’s team is going to get the win although if Undisputed wins just like last year that would be cool for them.

The Black/Gargano match should be intense. I really don’t know if this heel run of Johnny Gargano is a good idea, which makes me intrigued about the match because I want to see how it turns out. The match quality should be great. I have no doubt about that.

As for what match is the main event, I think the WarGames match should go on last and it likely will.
