AEW Star Sticks Knife In After Shock Dynamite Attack

AEW logo over blurred Brian Cage Swerve Strickland

One AEW star seems to have indicated where the bad blood first began that culminated in Swerve Strickland taking a shock beating on Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland will put his AEW World Title on the line against Christian Cage at Double Or Nothing after The Young Bucks named Cage as the number one contender. Cage and his Patriarchy wasted no time in getting under the skin of Strickland on the May 1st edition of Dynamite as they laid out the champion and his manager Prince Nana.

On Dynamite in Edmonton, Swerve Strickland came to the ring alone and in a foul mood. The AEW World Champion called out Christian Cage and Cage was quick to appear flanked by The Patriarchy as he vowed to continue to take everything from Strickland after Killswitch took one of the champion’s dreadlocks from his head the prior week.

As the group advanced to the ring, Swerve Strickland informed them that he didn’t come alone as Brian Cage and The Gates of Agony of the Mogul Embassy backed up their leader. However, as Strickland continued his confrontation with Cage, he was attacked from behind by his own group.

Brian Cage Tells Swerve Strickland Where He Went Wrong In AEW

Swerve Strickland gave his brief thoughts on social media, simply writing “fake friends” in response to the attack. Brian Cage, who led the betrayal against Strickland, may have indicated where the seeds were sown for the blindside as he responded:

Fake? Who took the wrong cage to Wembley

Despite being affiliated with The Mogul Embassy, Swerve Strickland ended up teaming with Christian Cage rather than Brian Cage, Kaun, or Toa Liona at AEW All In where they lost to Sting and Darby Allin in a Coffin Match.
