WWE News: The Undertaker Headed to Super Showdown, Mysterio Replaces Rusev

The WWE Network event called Super Showdown is scheduled to take place this Thursday from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A big name is headed to the show that isn’t currently advertised for a match. That big name is The Undertaker, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. The Undertaker is not scheduled to compete in a match at Super Showdown, but he’s going to likely begin a feud with his rumored Wrestlemania opponent AJ Styles. With Styles competing in the tournament to win the Tuwaiq Trophy, he might win and then that’s when The Undertaker could show up.

The Undertaker was a part of the last year’s Super Showdown event as well, as he defeated Goldberg in the main event in what was a disastrous match.

Rusev was originally scheduled to compete in the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy Gauntlet Match along with WWE United States Champion Andrade, Bobby Lashley, R-Truth, AJ Styles and Erick Rowan.

This week on Raw, however, it was announced that Rey Mysterio is replacing Rusev in the match, with no explanation being given for the change. Although the official story from WWE is that Rusev is injured, this is not the case according to Meltzer who stated that Rusev is simply refusing to go.

Rusev was a part of the Saudi Arabia event last October that saw him and most of the roster stranded in the country due to “mechanical issues.” Rusev tweeted out during that ordeal that: “At this point and time We need all the prayers… brother.”

It was also noted by WrestleVotes this morning that WWE is using the same Atlas Air company that they used for their last trip to Saudi Arabia last fall.

WWE Super Showdown takes place this Thursday at 12pm ET in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the WWE Network.

Matt’s Musings: Hopefully whichever wrestlers make the trip to Saudi Arabia this time, they can all get back without issue.
