Updated WWE Backlash Lineup Following SmackDown Live

The first Smackdown exclusive pay-per-view event since the WWE Draft will happen in under three weeks at Backlash. This will be the first time WWE’s done a Backlash event since 2009. It will take place in Richmond, Virginia at the Richmond, Coliseum on September 11.

Following last night’s edition of Smackdown Live, this is what the card for Backlash currently looks like.

Please note that (c) refers to the champion heading into the match.

WWE World Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. AJ Styles

Six-Pack Challenge to determine the inaugural Smackdown Women’s Champion: Nikki Bella vs. Becky Lynch vs. Carmella vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament Final: TBD vs. TBD

Mark’s reaction: I hope Smackdown takes a page out of NXT’s playbook and keeps their brand exclusive pay-per-view’s to about two to two and a half hours in length and about 5 to 6 matches. It’s a nice formula that works tremendously for NXT and I think it can benefit Smackdown a lot, especially considering their roster is smaller than Raw’s.
