Xavier Woods Reveals He Pitched WWE Cartoon While In Developmental

Over the course of his entire career, Xavier Woods has always been about much more than what he does inside the ropes. He’s a man of many talents.

From his YouTube channel UpUpDownDown to his podcast alongside his partners in The New Day, Woods has always looked for outside the box projects to work on. Something which nearly included a WWE themed original cartoon.

Appearing on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Woods revealed that he pitched the idea of the cartoon during his time in developmental. However, WWE didn’t go for the show.

During the interview, Woods initially discussed how he wrote cartoons before arriving in WWE.

“I met this fine fellow named Jonathan Davenport years ago when I was in developmental. He’s an artist, he’s worked for Pixar, Marvel, he’s done everything. He was doing graphic novels at the time and I was working on a cartoon. When I worked at a previous company, I wrote out full cartoons, cranking it all out, and they didn’t want it. Okay, whatever,”

“In WWE, I’m in developmental, they say we’re going to have the Network and they need original content, what do you have? I re-wrote the whole show for WWE, got Jonathan to draw up characters but it looks like old school Ninja Turtles. It’s like Dolph Ziggler, AJ Lee, me, Kofi, a smattering of characters. Brought it to them and they said, ‘Nah, we don’t want it.’ One day, my wrestling cartoon will drop.”

Xavier Woods appeared at SummerSlam with the star doing his best Scott Hall impression. At the event, Woods stole the ‘Drip-stick 2000’ from John Morrison and The Miz before soaking them in the ring.

Woods picked up a victory over The Miz on Raw last night.
