WWE’s Plan For SmackDown On USA Confirmed

Vince McMahon WWE SmackDown

WWE programming is on the move in 2024 but fans of SmackDown may not have to change their viewing habits too much to follow the show.

SmackDown is ending its five-year stint on FOX in late 2024 and NXT is on its way out of the USA Network this year as well. The final piece of the puzzle was revealed when it emerged that WWE has signed a huge deal for Raw beginning in 2025.

Many fans noticed that the press release touting the Netflix deal made no mention of Monday with the suggestion being that WWE’s flagship show could leave its traditional day. Questions also remain over what night SmackDown and NXT will air on their new networks but now it seems the question over the blue brand has been answered.

WWE SmackDown Staying On Fridays

Speaking in an interview on POST Wrestling, Dave Meltzer discussed the future of SmackDown as it moves to the USA Network and revealed that the plan is for the show to stay put on Fridays for now:

I was told as of right now for USA Network, the plan is that SmackDown is on Friday (when it moves to USA in Oct). But of course if you evaluate everything, I don’t see why they would do that, but that is the plan as of right now.

The USA Network has confirmed Raw is leaving in October 2024 when the current deal between WWE and NBC Universal expires. That means many are wondering where Raw will land between then and January when the Netflix deal comes into force.
