WWE Women’s Tag Titles Final Confirmed

The finals of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament after a big night of action on Friday Night SmackDown.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were vacated back in May after then-champions Sasha Banks and Naomi famously walked out of the company during Monday Night Raw. The championship had lain dormant for months but with Triple H now in charge, a tournament was announced to crown new champions and bring the belts back into play.

NXT duo Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark were originally scheduled for the tournament but injuries and medical unavailability led to them being replaced by Toxic Attraction. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne won their first-round match but an injury to Dolin meant that team needed to be replaced as well.

On SmackDown in Detroit, Sonya Deville and Natalya found their way back into the tournament, winning the Second Chance Fatal 4-Way match to replace Toxic Attraction but their night was far from done.

Deville and Natalya were then tasked with facing Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah with a place in the final on the line. With Bayley, alongside other finalists IYO SKY and Dakota Kai watching on, Rodriguez asserted her dominance to pick up the victory.

The final will prove to be an interesting match as it will pit Dakota Kai and Raquel Rodriguez on opposite teams. The pairing of Kai and Rodriguez were previously the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
