WWE Veteran Calls Out AEW For “Disturbing, Gross, And Disgusting” Match
On Sunday, AEW held its first pay-per-view of 2026, Revolution, in Los Angeles.
In the main event, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page faced MJF for the World Championship in a Texas Death Match. Its stipulation stated that if Page lost, he would never challenge for the title again.
One of the spots in the match left the audience in the Crypto.com Arena and the fans watching at home feeling squeamish.
After neutralizing Page by using a shard of broken glass to cut open his forehead, MJF introduced a syringe in the match.
MJF shoved it into his opponent’s mouth, piercing the cheek, and pushed the plunger for the liquid to be sprayed out. The move left fans in a state of shock, with many of their reactions captured during the remainder of the match.
Surprisingly, the moment was not a first in the company’s history, as Hangman had used a similar tactic on Swerve Strickland during their Texas Death Match at AEW All Out in 2024.
Vince Russo Calls Out AEW For Disturbing Match
The syringe spot was easily one of the most talked-about events after AEW Revolution went off air.
WWE veteran Vince Russo called out Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling for it while speaking on The Coach & Bro podcast, calling the spot disgusting and disturbing, even claiming that he would not watch a show even if the company paid him.
You said a couple of minutes ago, “Thank you for the main event.” I ain’t thanking anybody for sticking syringe…when did that start happening? Hardcore matches, Texas Death matches, those used to develop with whatever tools you could find in the back, underneath the ring. We hit somebody with a broom, maybe we’ll find a shovel. That’s what those matches were.
So, what are there, syringes? Are there syringes hanging around? That is disturbing. It’s gross. It’s disgusting. I like Adam Page and MJF; I like both of those guys. You guys are freaking idiots! That’s S&M bulls**t. And I saw that clip, and I’m like, “Bring the kids out. Bring the kids out to an AEW show.” What is wrong with you, bro, when you’re sticking syringes through each other’s skin?
I swear to god, you mentally have to have a problem if you are doing that in a wrestling ring. That’s why I will never ever watch an AEW event, even if they paid me to watch it. I would turn down the money. [15:23 onwards]
