5-Time WWE Champion Teases Return 9 Months After Release
A five-time WWE champion has expressed interest in returning to the company just nine months after her release.
Following WrestleMania 41, WWE released Shayna Baszler in May 2025 as part of a round of roster cuts, despite the fact that she had recently signed a contract extension with roughly three years remaining. Even with significant time left on her deal, the Stamford-based company ultimately chose to part ways with the former champion.
Earlier this year, WWE also saw the departure of Ava, the daughter of The Rock, who officially left the company on January 30, 2026, after a six-year tenure. Ava announced her exit via Instagram, confirming that she had stepped down from and vacated the role of NXT General Manager.
Ex-WWE Star Shayna Baszler Open To Step In As New NXT General Manager
With the NXT General Manager position now vacant, a WWE fan suggested on social media that Shayna Baszler should step into the role. In response, Baszler replied that NXT could certainly use a strong enforcer, subtly implying that her reputation would make her a natural fit for the position.

This response followed an earlier tweet from Baszler last week, in which she hinted at interest in assuming the newly opened NXT General Manager role, suggesting that a return to the Stamford-based company, at least in an on-screen capacity, may be something she is open to exploring.
Like Shayna, Chelsea Green also hinted at her desire to fill the vacant NXT General Manager spot. Green tweeted that she has experience running a continent, so that would make her a perfect fit for the new NXT GM role.
