A WWE star has admitted their career is over.

Robert Roode hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Omos at a live event on June 25th, 2022. Since then, the former TNA Wrestling star has undergone two separate neck surgeries, leaving fans to wonder if and when he would ever get back in the ring.

However, during a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Roode admitted his days as an in-ring performer are over, although he has been medically cleared.

“Ironically enough, I just got green-lighted. The fusion has completely fused. So as far as like, looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring, I guess. But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity that I’ve been given now to work as a producer, which was my goal coming to WWE almost eight years ago.

I’m quite happy doing this. And I feel like I’ve had a good run, as they say, and I’m happy to do what I’m doing now.”

The star didn’t completely rule out having one more match, but appeared resigned to the fact his body simply can’t handle the demands wrestling would take.

“I think everybody would like to have one last match, right? But sometimes when the wheels fall off, the wheels fall off. It’s just that’s the nature of the beast in this sport.”

When Did Robert Roode Join WWE?

Robert Roode signed with WWE in 2016 and immediately joined NXT. Over the next six years, across his time in the Black and Gold brand and the main roster, Roode has become a three-time Tag Team Champion, 24/7 Champion, United States Champion, and NXT Champion.
