Why WWE SummerSlam Match Didn’t Meet Karrion Kross Expectations

Karrion Kross is discontent with his SummerSlam match.

The 40-year-old star was engaged in a months-long feud with Sami Zayn.

Kross believed that Zayn disguised his true personality to win favors from the WWE higher-ups, and he wanted the Canadian wrestler to come clean by admitting that he was right about him.

Over the next weeks, he attacked Zayn in the ribs with a steel pipe, culminating in their match at ‘the Biggest Party of the Summer.’

The match also had a stipulation that if Karrion Kross won, Zayn would have to say, “Kross was right.” Conversely, if Sami Zayn won, Kross would admit that he was wrong.

The match itself witnessed back-and-forth action. In the closing minutes, Kross’ real-life wife, Scarlett, handed Zayn a steel pipe to force him to embrace his dark side.

Zayn, though, threw away the pipe and won clean by hitting Kross with a Helluva Kick.

After their match, he told Karrion Kross that he was done with him. Kross, in turn, nodded in agreement.

Karrion Kross Wished For A Hyper-Violent Fight

Karrion Kross appeared on The Hannibal TV podcast for a chat about his WWE career.

As it turned out, the Stamford promotion failed to negotiate a new deal with Kross and his wife, resulting in their departure from the company on August 10 after their contracts expired.

During the interview, Kross explained that his final match for the promotion felt underwhelming.

I always loved SummerSlam when I was little. SummerSlam had a different vibe than the rest of the pay-per-views and to be a performer on that show I think is really cool, the novelty of being able to know that, you know, I was able to do that is cool.

I would have liked to have done things a little bit, how should I say, I thought that there was gonna be something a lot more hyperviolent that we were going to be able to get into with me and Sami. Nevertheless, I was thrilled to be there and to perform. [7:51 onwards]
