WWE SummerSlam 2024 Location Update

The 2024 edition of WWE SummerSlam may take place in a part of the United States similar to where it was in 2023.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that the city of Cleveland, Ohio is being discussed as the host for WWE SummerSlam 2024. The Fightful report notes that it is the current “frontrunner and likely location” of the event.

Their report notes that there are several sources connected to the City of Cleveland and the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. A WWE source claimed that Cleveland was “likely” as the SummerSlam host.

There are two larger stadiums in Cleveland that could host SummerSlam: Cleveland Browns Stadium which hosts the NFL’s Browns or Progressive Field, which is where the Cleveland Guardians play in MLB.

Since SummerSlam usually takes place in August (aside from 2022 on July 30th), it would be during the MLB season of the Guardians, but it’s possible to host it there if they are on a road trip. The Cleveland Browns Stadium would seem more likely since the NFL regular season starts in September, but they will have preseason games in August too. Both stadiums are without a roof.

The city of Cleveland has hosted SummerSlam in the past. That was in 1996 when Shawn Michaels beat Vader to retain the WWE Championship.

Detroit hosted SummerSlam this year at Ford Field. Detroit is only about a 2.5-hour drive to Cleveland, so there could be some fans that attend the event two years in a row due to the proximity of the two cities.

WWE will be heading to Germany for an August Premium Live Event in 2024

If SummerSlam takes place in August 2024 then it would be the first of two PLE events in that month. That’s because WWE already announced the brand new Bash In Berlin Premium Live Event taking place on Saturday, August 31st.

There are at least three international PLE’s planned for 2024 with Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia in February, the huge city of Paris, France potentially hosting Backlash after WrestleMania, and then Bash in Berlin, Germany.

For SummerSlam at least, it looks like WWE will be keeping it in the United States.
