WWE Stars Given Ultimatum By TKO: Take Pay Cut Or Leave
TKO has made some shocking changes to WWE stars’ contracts.
TKO has begun restructuring WWE stars’ contracts, giving the talent very little time to decide whether to stay or leave following the change.
Following WrestleMania 42, there were talent cuts that led to the releases of 25 stars from the company, many of whom were major players like The Wyatt Sicks, Aleister Black, and Zelina Vega, and some of whom were in active storylines like Kairi Sane.
After that, this sudden change has seemingly caused chaos in the locker room, especially because TKO has approached talent and begun negotiations to reduce their pay and form new deals.
Wrestling Observer Radio recently confirmed that some wrestlers have already agreed to the terms, but others, like Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the New Day, chose to decline the offer and leave WWE instead.
The New Day is still leaving millions of dollars on the table despite the pay cut, but they have decided to leave and are now free agents.
Meanwhile, the pressure is on for other stars who have to decide quickly whether they want to accept the new contracts. Fightful Select came out with the details on the matter.
Fightful Select Reports On TKO Contract Restructuring For WWE Stars
According to Fightful, several stars were offered only two days to make their decision.
The day of the mass releases, WWE approached numerous talent and asked them to take pay cuts in order to remain with the company.
Several of them that we heard about were given two days to make that decision.
They then mentioned that the New Day decided to go in the other direction and parted ways with WWE.
New Day’s Austin Creed and Kofi Kingston pretty quickly made the decision that they would rather leave the company.
Despite the pay cut offered, the duo still left millions of dollars on the table over the next four years.
There are reportedly more negotiations expected in shorter periods, which means that WWE talent will have to be quick in deciding whether they want to accept new, restructured contracts with pay cuts or leave to work at another promotion instead.
