Identity Of WWE Star Who Bailed Ludwig Kaiser Out Of Jail
Multiple updates have emerged in the recent arrest of WWE star Ludwig Kaiser.
After learning about an arrest warrant issued against him on charges of battery, Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, flew to Florida from Mexico on May 20, where he was taken into custody by the local authorities.
A man named Richard Reap had filed the complaint against the German wrestler following an altercation that occurred between them on April 23.
In the complaint, Reap stated that he had seen Kaiser and his female companion get “uncontrollably intimate” inside an elevator. After exiting the elevator, he told the couple to “please have some manners.” Reap claimed that his request triggered the 35-year-old, who then physically assaulted him.
Meanwhile, the police verified the assault by noting that the victim had a scratch on the back of his head and redness that was consistent with the altercation.
Reap also identified Ludwig Kaiser in a photo lineup after his arrest. The warrant further clarified that the incident did not involve the use of firearms or intoxication.
Who Bailed Out Ludwig Kaiser?
A few hours after Ludwig Kaiser was arrested, he was released by posting a $1,000 bond. Till now, the identity of the person who bailed him out had remained a mystery.
Many fans may not be surprised after learning that it was former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther who posted his bail.
Gunther (real name Walter Hahn) is the long-time friend of Kaiser. While speaking at multiple interviews and podcasts, both wrestlers have recalled traveling together during their formative years, trying to break into the wrestling industry in Austria and Germany.
They were also part of the Imperium faction in WWE, which was formed in NXT UK in 2019. After leaving a lasting impression in Europe, the group was brought to NXT in the United States.
While the group’s third member, Giovanni Vinci, is no longer signed with the promotion, Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser have persisted in securing top spots for themselves on the roster.
At present, Gunther is involved in a feud with Cody Rhodes on SmackDown and will challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy on May 31.
Kaiser, on the other hand, competes as the masked luchador, El Grande Americano, on the WWE Raw main roster as well as AAA Lucha Libre. On May 30, he will face the “Original” El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) in a Mask vs. Mask at Noche de Los Grandes in Monterrey, Mexico.
Court Sets Date In Ludwig Kaiser’s Battery Case
One of the important details in Kaiser’s battery case is that he pleaded not guilty on his part. Meanwhile, his lawyers also asked for leniency in terms of his freely traveling to international locations.
Kaiser recently attended a free fan event in Mexico City called “Serenata Para: El Grande Americano” (A Serenade for El Grande Americano) on Thursday, May 21. It was his first public appearance since the arrest.
Additionally, a pre-trial conference is set for July 16 (Thursday) in Orlando, where the prosecution and defense will meet to negotiate a deal like a plea bargain without a trial. The court records also offered August 10-28 as the timeframe for the case to be tried.
