This former WWE star did not like his new gimmick.

Tyrus (Real name: Brodus Clay) was introduced as Alberto del Rio’s bodyguard back in 2010.

Initially, Trus was positioned as a major force, squashing opponents in matches.

However, he would later be repackaged by WWE into a dancing comedic character, which he did not take a liking to. The sudden character shift made Tyrus want ot quit the company altogether.

Speaking on his Planet Tyrus Show, the 53-year-old wrestler revealed his feelings of disenchantment upon hearing the news of the character change.

I came off the road and went straight to Dusty (Rhodes). He was waiting for me and no one else. He kicked everyone out of the arena. He shut down the school. I walked in there, and I was telling him I wanted to quit. It was a lot for me because this was my dream, and it was ending because I’m not going out there dancing. I’m not doing that sh*t.

Tyrus also revealed that it was after Vince McMahon heard him joking with his friends backstage that the idea for the comedic character for him came up.

Former WWE Star Tyrus Says Dusty Rhodes Talked Him Into Staying

Tyrus went straight to Dusty Rhodes when the gimmick change was proposed to him by WWE. He told the WWE legend that he wants to quit the company and wasn’t ready to embarrass himself with a dancing/comedic gimmick.

Rhodes’ advice came as an eye-opener for Tyrus and led to a shift in his perspective.

The American Dream told Tyrus about how he had to wear a polka-dotted outfit despite being made a star by the company and how he did it anyway to support his family.

This led Tyrus to work with the Hall of Famer, and the Funkasaurus character came to be, which Tyrus carried till his eventual release in 2014.
