WWE Star Details Conversation With Triple H: “Hunter Bro, I’m Not Ready To Retire”
A current WWE star revealed a private conversation he had with Triple H.
Rey Mysterio is widely regarded as one of the greatest luchadors of all time. He has been a part of the wrestling industry for a very long time and has competed in some major wrestling promotions like WCW and WWE.
Mysterio has accomplished everything there is to do in the business. He is a Royal Rumble winner and a former World Champion. Even his son, Dominik Mysterio, is now wrestling on the WWE roster. Given his accomplishments in the ring, WWE inducted him into the Hall of Fame in 2023. He is also the only active wrestler on the WWE roster to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Rey Mysterio told Triple H he is not ready to retire
During a recent appearance on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio recalled that when Triple H told him he was going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, the former responded that he was not ready to retire yet and had a few years left in him. He thought Triple H was asking him to retire because Hall of Fame inductees were retired before their induction.
“When I was brought up, the opportunity to enter the Hall of Fame, I was like, ‘Wait a minute.’ It was Hunter [Triple H] I believe told me, I said, ‘Hunter bro, I’m not ready to retire, I wanna keep going.’ He went, ‘No no no, we’re not asking you to retire, we just think it’s probably the best time to put you in the Hall of Fame.”
Rey Mysterio finally agreed that it was the right time for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“This was right when I faced Dom in LA at WrestleMania, so for them it felt like the perfect timing. So I said ‘Yeah, lets do it, if you feel it’s the right timing lets go.’ And little did I know I would be the only active Hall of Famer on the roster that’s still going.” [H/T Sportskeeda]
Based on his conversation with Triple H, it looks like Rey Mysterio might still have a few years left in him before he decides to call it quits on his career. It remains to be seen how long he will be able to perform at this level.
