This WWE star stood in for her friend but lost the bout and her friend’s title last year.

NXT’s Zaria wrestled in Sol Ruca’s place and defended Ruca’s NXT North American Title against Blake Monroe at Halloween Havoc last year.

Zaria and Ruca were best friends and tag team partners. With Ruca injured, Zaria was asked by her best friend to wrestle on her behalf at the PLE.

Despite a valiant effort, Monroe got the better of Zaria that night and pinned her to become the new NXT North American Champion. This led to tensions between Zaria and Ruca, and a heated rivalry ensued.

The two women faced each other as sworn enemies on the latest NXT PLE, Stand and Deliver, on Saturday in St.Louis, Missouri.

During this bout, play-by-play commentator Vic Joseph oddly accused Zaria, saying she may have lost Ruca’s gold on purpose, even though, in kayfabe, there was no reason for her to do so, as Ruca and Zaria were good friends at the time, with Zaria even checking on Ruca after Monroe knocked her over at ringside during the Halloween Havoc match.

The pair was also named NXT Tag Team of the Year 2025, making Joseph’s statements questionable.

Sol Ruca Defeats Zaria At WWE NXT: Stand And Deliver

Ruca, who has already made her main roster debut by featuring in the Royal Rumble match this year and finishing it as one of the three finalists, was always going to bring her A-game against her former friend Zaria.

The two battled it out in an emotional and physical match, but after an avalanche X-factor and multiple Sol Snatchers, Zaria conceded to Ruca.

Despite strong offence from Zaria with moves like the spear and the F-5 in her arsenal, she hasn’t been able to find victories of late and is yet to win a singles match since November 2025.

WWE shared a clip of Ruca’s win on their official X account.

As for Blake Monroe, she ended up losing her NXT North American Championship to Tatum Paxley at Stand and Deliver on Saturday.
