WWE Royal Rumble 2026 will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This will be the first time the Rumble will be held outside of North America.

Cody Rhodes lost the WWE Undisputed Championship last week on the January 9 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. On the January 16 edition of the blue brand show, he cut an intense promo.

Since Cody cannot challenge McIntyre for a title rematch because of a clause that McIntyre put in the Three Stages of Hell match, Rhodes is taking another route to win the title back. He officially announced himself as the first entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble match this year and vowed to win the match and the title he lost.

Cody Rhodes Will Not Win the WWE Royal Rumble This Year

On the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry reviewed the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. He commented on Cody Rhodes’ promo and his participation in the upcoming men’s Rumble match, predicting that it is highly unlikely that Cody Rhodes will win the Rumble match this year.

For those who don’t know, Rhodes has already won the Royal Rumble twice, first in 2023 and then in 2024.

Mark said, “I don’t think that Cody Rhodes goes into the Rumble for the third time and wins. It’s just not going to happen.”

Speaking on the same podcast episode, Mark Henry also stated that Cody Rhodes has established himself as a tweener now, as he has been getting cheers and jeers from the crowd at the same time. Therefore, The American Nightmare needs to rebuild himself to become the fan favorite again.

“Cody gets to travel the less popular road now. One of the things that I’ve said with Cody is, Cody has established himself as a tweener. He’s kind of been very heelish. This is the road he has to travel, where he has to re-earn the respect and admiration of the fans because of the journey he’s taken,” Mark added.
