WWE Signing Left “Pretty Big Hole” In Former Company
When an onscreen personality left NJPW to sign with WWE, he reportedly left a “big hole” for his former employer to fill.
While wrestlers are the stars of any promotion, referees also play an integral part in what we see in the ring. Jeremy Marcus is no exception, as he was a key official for New Japan’s STRONG brand, officiating many matches for the company in the US.
His talents were also utilised for the company in Japan, where he was on hand to referee bouts for G1 Climax 32 in 2022 as well as Wrestle Kingdom 17 and the following night’s New Year Dash. One of the biggest bouts he was part of saw him make the three-count for Kazuchika Okada when he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi at Battle In The Valley in the latest chapter of their storied rivalry.
According to Fightful Select, Marcus also played an important role behind the scenes as the head of administration for the company in the US. When he left for WWE in March 2023, he is said to have left a “pretty big hole” in the promotion.
“I’m excited to join the NXT officiating crew! Very honored to be a part of this hard working team. Catch NXT every Tuesday at 8/7c on USA Network!”
Marcus was most recently part of NXT’s Heatwave special, which was headlined by Carmelo Hayes defending the NXT Championship against Wes Lee.
