WWE Reportedly Evaluating Entire WrestleMania 42 Card
WWE WrestleMania 42 is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18th and April 19th, 2026.
The two nights set the tone for the rest of the year, especially after challengers emerge at the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber matches.
So far, WWE confirmed the main event for WrestleMania 42 Night 2: Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, the reason for the global juggernaut to announce this right off the bat was to boost ticket sales.
WWE is reconsidering the WrestleMania 42 card
It to happens that the ticket sales for WrestleMania 42 have been struggling. Only about half the tickets for each night have been sold.
On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE authorities and management are looking into different game plans to boost ticket sales, along with reconsidering the match card. However, that is adding frustration to the process since the creative angles have been set for a while.
The decline in ticket sales was said to be the reason the entire card is being evaluated, combined with many in creative having different opinions on direction. There was frustration because they had a game plan in place, and it was then changed to a new game plan, and now we could and likely will have other changes. One person involved noted that at this point they really should be sticking to the plans because the plans are good. The reality is the ratings declines are largely based on loss of cable homes and changes at Nielsen and live attendance, while not sold out every week, is still on the high side based on history, and ticket prices are significantly up. WWE management had a meeting with the teams on February 11th and has asked each team to come up with ways to boost ticket sales heading into February 2026.
