WWE NXT Takeover 31 Results (Balor vs. O’Reilly, Shirai vs. LeRae)

This is a results-only post covering WWE NXT Takeover 31 that is live tonight at the WWE Performance Center. There will be a separate post on TJRWrestling on Monday morning will the full “The John Report” review of the show. There were some fans in the building along with some fans on video screens. WWE is calling it the Capitol Wrestling Center now.

Damian Priest defeated Johnny Gargano to retain the NXT North American Championship at 18:39.

Kushida defeated Velveteen Dream by submission with the Hoverboard Lock at 13:02.

It was announced that the October 28 edition of NXT will have a Halloween Havoc theme and it will be hosted by Shotzi Blackheart.

Santos Escobar defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott by pinfall to retain the NXT Cruiserweight Championship at 15:14.

Io Shirai defeated Candice LeRae to retain the NXT Women’s Championship at 16:44.

After the match, Toni Storm let Io Shirai and the fans know that she was coming to the NXT brand very soon.

The mystery person featured in the videos over the last few weeks revealed themselves as Io Shirai was in the ring. It was Ember Moon, who is back after missing about a year with a foot injury.

Finn Balor defeated Kyle O’Reilly to retain the NXT Championship at 28:32.

After the match, Ridge Holland carried Adam Cole to ringside and dropped him with idea being that he attacked Cole. The show ended with O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish checking on Cole as they wondered what happened.

My full TJR review of this show will be up on TJRWRestling on Monday morning. I just didn’t have time to finish it on Sunday night. An estimate for when it will be posted on Monday morning is around 10am ET or so. Thanks.
