WWE News: Sasha Banks Will Defend the Smackdown Women’s Championship vs. Bianca Belair at WrestleMania

There’s a second official match at WrestleMania this year. This past Sunday at Elimination Chamber, we found out that Men’s Royal Rumble winner Edge will challenge Smackdown’s Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37, which takes place on April 10 and April 11 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Last night on Smackdown, Women’s Royal Rumble winner Bianca Belair made her WrestleMania intentions clear. As expected, Belair let Smackdown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks know that she was going to challenge her at WrestleMania.

At this time, we don’t know what matches will take place on April 10 and what matches will take place on April 11, but it’s certainly possible that both Royal Rumble winners will be in the last matches at WrestleMania. If I had to guess, I’d assume Edge vs. Reigns headlines the Sunday, April 11 edition of WrestleMania. That means they might do Banks/Belair on Saturday, April 10. The reason it may not happen that way is that WWE might want a Raw match to headline one of the shows, so that’s why if one of those matches doesn’t go on last then it’s probably Banks/Belair.

Regardless of when it takes place, there’s no doubt that Sasha Banks defending the Smackdown Women’s Title against Bianca Belair is a huge match.

As a reminder, WWE also has the Fastlane pay-per-view taking place on Sunday, March 21 as well although it’s unlikely that something will happen on that show that will change the Banks/Belair match. It’s likely locked in at this point.

Analysis: I think Banks vs. Belair will be a great match especially because they have six weeks to work on it and set up whatever they want to do in the match. I know a lot of wrestlers don’t script matches move for move, but they can certainly practice things when they know something is going to happen on a particular date.

Who wins the match at WrestleMania? I’m leaning towards Belair leaving as Smackdown Women’s Champion since WrestleMania will be about six months since Banks won the title at Hell in a Cell last October. They’ll probably get 20 minutes, have a match where they kick out of everything, fight out of submissions and Belair will find a way to win.
