WWE Making Huge Promotional Push For NXT To Beat AEW

WWE

With NXT set to go head to head with AEW one more time, reports have surfaced suggesting WWE is “determined” to defeat their Elite competition.

The Wednesday Night Wars kicked off in late 2019 when WWE decided to take NXT off of their own network and put it on the USA Network just weeks before AEW Dynamite debuted on TNT in October of that year. The battle for ratings supremacy lasted until April 2021 when NXT was moved to Tuesday nights with Dynamite beating their wrestling competition for the majority of the year and a half that the two shows went head-to-head.

Now on the 18th of October, the rivalry will be renewed for one week at least with a very special edition of Dynamite going head-to-head with NXT on a Tuesday. And according to some, WWE is pushing hard to win the night.

Taking to social media for his super followers, the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez wrote:

“Huge promotional push for the show, they’re determined to beat AEW.”

Main roster talent will be on the NXT show with both Raquel Rodriguez and Rhea Ripley returning to the developmental brand to take on Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez respectively. Sonya Deville will face Scottish star Alba Fyre and The OC will be in attendance as Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows join Cameron Grimes to face The Schism. “Stacks” Lorenzo will also be in action against an opponent picked by Tony D’Angelo.

AEW is not shrinking away from the competition themselves as they have a loaded night of title matches in store for Dynamite in Cinncinati. Hometown hero Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Hangman Adam Page, the Interim AEW Women’s World Title will also be on the line as Toni Storm faces Hikaru Shida. Chris Jericho will also defend the ROH World Championship against former champion Dalton Castle.
