It’s Official! WWE Makes Blockbuster New Hiring
One of WWE’s standout features is its production value.
As compared to other wrestling promotions like All Elite Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action, the Stamford promotion’s TV product delivers on various fronts.
Ever since the Endeavor and TKO acquisition, the company’s production has received high praise, especially following the departure of Kevin Dunn in 2023, who was the line producer of live events since 1988.
Since January 2024, Lee Fitting has taken over as WWE’s Head of Media & Production, with his key responsibilities involving on-screen presentation and graphics.
On the back of WrestleMania 42, some people in the wrestling promotion still seem to believe that there is room for improvement, judging by the company’s latest acquisition.
The company’s next premium live event, Backlash, is scheduled on May 9 and will take place in Tampa, Florida.
WWE Ropes In Hunter Selby For Major Creative Role
Hunter Selby is a renowned name in the television industry, having earned multiple Emmy nominations for his lighting work on shows like American Idol and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Selby took to his LinkedIn profile to break the news, confirming that he had been hired as the new Director of Show Production and Design by WWE.
I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a new position as Director of Show Production and Design at WWE. I’m looking forward to this new chapter, and to working on some designs that will hopefully be debuting on screens soon!
In his new role, Selby will have direct influence over lighting rings and stage setups as well as overall presentation of the weekly Raw and SmackDown shows, plus the monthly premium live events.
Selby’s hiring follows the departure of Gavin O’Shea, who had a 25-year run in the wrestling promotion and was its Director of TV Production since 2020. O’Shea was let go along with more than 20 wrestlers in the post-WrestleMania roster shakeup.
