WWE Legend Set For Retirement Match At 83
A WWE Hall of Famer is getting ready for one last hurrah before walking into the sunset.
The ‘Boogie Woogie Man’ Jimmy Valiant will compete in his final wrestling match on April 25, aged 83, for NAWA Championship Wrestling.
Valiant made his in-ring debut in 1964. He joined the World Wide Wrestling Federation, which was later rebranded as WWF and then WWE a few years down the line.
Teaming up with Johnny Valiant, he would enter the tag team championship picture while being managed by Bobby Heenan.
Valiant was also known for his feud with Jerry Lawler while competing in the Memphis independent circuit. In 1979, he returned to WWWF to manage Johnny and Jerry Valiant, helping them win the tag titles.
Valiant was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 with Johnny Valiant. He came out of retirement in 2022 at 79.
WWE Hall Of Famer Confirms Final Wrestling Match
Jimmy Valiant last competed in a six-man tag team match on September 23, 2023, in NAWA.
The 83-year-old recently confirmed that his upcoming match on April 25 would be his last.
Yes, this will be my final dance.I’ve retired before but this is truly my last dance. I’m honored to hang up my boots after 62 years of wrestling pro. I had over 15,000 matches and drove 6 million miles on U.S. highways, plus flying getting to those matches.
I want to dance down that aisle to my theme song, “Boy From New York City” one last time to make wrestling in 7 decades from1964 to 2026 a reality for me.
NAWA promoter, Michael Elliott, too, shared his thoughts about Valiant wrestling in his last match, calling it ‘a historic evening.’
We are honored to have this moment be a part of NAWA. This will truly be a historic evening.
