A major lawsuit was filed against WWE after its merger with UFC.

In 2023, Vince McMahon returned from his retirement with the sole aim of selling WWE to the highest bidder. He was able to sell the company to Endeavor, which was the parent company of UFC. The two companies merged to form TKO Holdings. However, this merger brought forth some problems for the sports entertainment juggernaut.

Several former board members sued WWE for undervaluing itself in the deal. The plaintiffs allege that Vince McMahon attempted to steer the bidding process in Endeavor’s favor even though the company received higher bids from KKR and Liberty Media. The plaintiffs named Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, Paul Levesque, George Barrios, and Michelle Wilson as defendants.

According to a 75-page pre-trial brief, which put Vince McMahon’s relationship with TKO CEO Ari Emmanuel in question, McMahon never intended for his initial retirement to remain permanent and even threatened to block any media rights deal unless he was brought back. The trial for this case was set to take place in the Delaware Court of Chancery on Monday.

This WWE lawsuit was called off

The trial, which was set to begin on Monday, was removed from the court’s calendars on Friday. It has now been confirmed that the trial is cancelled. Tamara Burton, the court administrator for the Delaware Court of Chancery, told Brandon Thurston that the trial is no longer moving forward as planned.

However, it is still not known if both sides have reached a settlement. This trial was scheduled to run for four days beginning Monday, and Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster was presiding over the case.

“The WWE merger trial has been cancelled, Court Administrator for the Delaware Court of Chancery Tamara Burton confirmed to me this evening. We haven’t confirmed whether a settlement has been agreed to or is being worked on. The trial was previously scheduled to start on Monday,” wrote Brandon Thurston on X.
