A former champion in WWE is firing shots at Triple H regarding why he left the company for AEW.

As the WWE Chief Content Officer and a 2-time WWE Hall of Famer for his incredible 20+ year run in WWE, Paul “Triple H” Levesque is beloved by many in pro wrestling, but he also has his critics.

When you are in a position like he’s in, it’s hard to please everybody and make everybody happy. It leads to wrestlers joining WWE, leaving WWE, and doing other things.

A wrestler who is not a fan of Triple H and has called him out repeatedly is Montel Vontavious Porter, aka MVP, the former WWE US Champion and Tag Team Champion. MVP has even called Triple H a “coward and liar” in the past, and he’s done it again.

Speaking on his Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze show, MVP spoke about departing WWE in August 2024 when his contract expired. Why did he leave? MVP blames The Game.

“Because I don’t like Triple H. I don’t respect Triple H. I think he’s a coward and a liar.”

“There are multiple times that I tried to talk to him, and he would always, ‘I’ll get with you in a little bit.’ Or the few times that I got a chance to get him in his office alone, he would call somebody to come in. He didn’t want to deal with it.”

MVP Convinced Other Wrestlers To Leave WWE Because Of Triple H

Following MVP’s WWE departure, other veteran wrestlers, including former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and former Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin, also left the company. The trio (with Cedric Alexander) was known as  The Hurt Business in WWE about five or six years ago. Now, the trio of MVP, Lashley and Benjamin are The Hurt Syndicate in AEW.

MVP claimed it wasn’t a personal thing.

“Tell me. I’m a professional. Tell me how you feel. We’re doing business. You don’t got to like me. There’s lots of people throughout my career that I’ve worked with that I don’t like. We’re making money. We’re doing business.”

That led to MVP revealing what he said to Lashley and Benjamin.

“Bobby could not get Triple H on the phone. Triple H wouldn’t give Bobby one-on-one time. Bobby wanted to talk to Triple H about, ‘Hey, what’s my direction? What am I doing here?’ Triple H always had something come up.

So, I told Bobby when we were sitting in catering, ‘Dog, I’m not going to re-sign. Don’t re-sign. You and me get Shelton and let’s go to AEW. Let’s go.”

Since Lashley was making big money in WWE, he was hesitant to leave the company, but MVP was persistent in talking to his friend.

“I was in Bobby’s ear every week. Bobby, let’s go, dog. Like we just get Shelton. Let’s go across the street. And it finally came to the point where Bobby was like, ‘Yeah, you right. There’s no future here for us.’”

At AEW Double or Nothing in Queens, New York, Lashley and Benjamin were on Chris Jericho’s winning team in the Stadium Stampede Match. It was a 7-on-7 tag match full of chaos that ended with a Lionsault by Jericho.
