A former WWE superstar thinks John Cena and Randy Orton were on the same page in terms of causing the former champion to get released.

Ken Kennedy was a WWE superstar who came onto the scene in the mid-2000s during the Ruthless Aggression Era. It was clear early on that WWE was high on him since they put him in feuds with legends like The Undertaker and Kane.

As the years went on, there were reports of Kennedy getting a main-event push and becoming World Heavyweight Champion. At another point, he was supposed to be announced as Vince McMahon’s bastard son, but Kennedy’s issues away from the ring prevented that.

Mr. Kennedy’s WWE run ended on May 25, 2009, after a tag team match on Raw featuring some of the biggest stars in the company wearing LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets NBA jerseys. During the match, Kennedy gave Randy Orton a belly-to-back suplex. Orton was furious in the ring because of his shoulder issues, and he slapped the mat repeatedly while expressing anger toward Kennedy.

There were complaints about Kennedy to management regarding other things as well, and he was fired that same week.

On a recent episode of Tagging In With Chris Harris. Ken Kennedy spoke about why he got fired.

“I got fired for dumping Randy on his head. If you slow that video down you can see that his neck never comes into contact with the mat. Even just the way that he bumped, he bumped in a manner where he lined up perfectly with the camera so you can actually see that.

He says I dumped him on his head, but you can see his neck, it’s a completely flat bump. From his shoulders to his ass was a complete straight line flat bump.”

“I Believe Randy And John Worked Together” – Ken Kennedy On WWE Firing

The former WWE US Champion, Kennedy, went further by claiming that he believes John Cena and Randy Orton complained about him enough to management that it led to his release.

“I believe that Randy and John worked together. They decided that day, let’s f**king get him gone. And it worked.”

While Kennedy believes that Orton and Cena played a big role in his WWE release, the 50-year-old Kennedy admits he was at fault too.

“I’ve said this before, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back, but had I been doing what I should have done on a daily basis, that would have never occurred. They could have gone to Vince and said all whatever they wanted to…

“The fact that my name kept coming up in a negative light and I kept kind of f**king up in different ways and that’s all on me. So, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back, but the reason I got fired is because of me.” (H/T Wrestletalk)

After being fired by WWE, Ken Kennedy used his real name, Ken Anderson, in TNA, where he realized his potential as a two-time World Champion. He spent six years in TNA from 2010 to 2016.

Kennedy never returned to WWE, but he has trained wrestlers like Tiffany Stratton and been backstage at shows.
