WWE Hall Of Famer Jake Roberts Names 3 Wrestling Icons He Mentored

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts has revealed which wrestling stars took the most advice from him throughout his legendary career.

Speaking on his podcast, The Snake Pit, Jake Roberts named three iconic figures who benefited from his knowledge of the business and were most receptive to his guidance.

“There are two or three guys that come to my mind, and one is Diamond Dallas Page, another one is Steve Austin, and, of course, The Undertaker.”

Discussing his influence on The Undertaker, Roberts explained that the WWE legend himself credited him with offering invaluable advice that shaped his career.

“I give him advice about being in the ring and how to get in the ring. He said that I gave him a lot of advice about how to handle himself in the ring, and a lot of advice on how to handle himself out of the ring, and also a lot of advice on what not to do. So that’s straight out of his mouth.”

Roberts had a legendary wrestling career, from a veteran of the territory system in the mid-1970s until he joined WWE in 1986 and became one of the company’s biggest stars, known for his psychological approach to storytelling and iconic signature move, the DDT.

Even after stepping away from full-time competition, Roberts’ impact on the wrestling industry remains significant. He continues to be involved in the business today, serving as a special advisor for AEW’s community outreach program.

How Does Jake Roberts Believe That The DDT Could Work As A Finishing Move In Today’s Wrestling Landscape?

Jake Roberts spoke about how he believes his iconic finishing move, the DDT, could work as a finishing move in modern wrestling. Roberts said that in order for it to work, wrestlers would need to stop using the DDT as a transition move, one person would need to start using it as their finishing move, and it would need to be protected as a legitimate finisher.
