“It’s Just In Poor Taste”: WWE Hall Of Famer Blasts AEW Revolution’s Syringe Spot
At AEW Revolution on Sunday, MJF and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page went to war.
The Salt of the Earth defended his World Championship in a Texas Death Match, where every piece of equipment was legal.
One of the spots in the fight saw MJF introduce a syringe, which he pierced through Page’s cheek and pushed the plunger for it to squeeze some form of liquid.
The spot was hard to watch for many fans in attendance at the Crypto.com Arena in Las Vegas, as well as fans watching at home.
After 48 minutes of back-and-forth action, MJF managed to retain his championship.
While AEW aimed to push the boundaries with the main event, it left many fans feeling repulsed, with one WWE Hall of Famer calling it a poor creative decision.
Booker T Slams AEW’s Syringe Spot
Booker T was honored with a plaque on Tuesday’s NXT, which took place in his hometown of Houston, Texas. While he was energetic and sentimental during the taping, his emotions were all over the place on Sunday.
Recalling the AEW syringe spot at Revolution on his Hall of Fame podcast, the 61-year-old reacted based on his personal experience, claiming that the showing was in poor taste.
I didn’t think it was in great taste. I don’t know what these guys think or understand about needles and drugs and whatnot, but I’ve walked in the room when I was a kid on someone in my family, close to my family, with the needle in their arm doing drugs.
I used to see the needles on the ground when I was a kid, because I was in places where I wasn’t supposed to be. To see something like that on television, knowing what it represents, it’s just in poor taste.
Booker T also blamed the decision-making on the higher-ups rather than the wrestlers involved.
That’s an executive decision. In my company, they might want to do something all the time, but they ain’t doing it because I refuse to let something go out there because of the way it’s going to be perceived and looked at.
