WWE To Suspend Drew McIntyre After Shocking Title Loss?
McIntyre had a series of misdemeanours in his match against Cody Rhodes this past Friday on SmackDown.
Cody Rhodes won back the WWE Undisputed Championship by defeating Drew McIntyre on SmackDown this past week.
The tumultuous bout came with many spots where McIntyre showed why he’s a top heel. He pulled referee Charles Robinson in the way when Cody Rhodes attempted a disaster kick, and later headbutted the new referee, Dan Engler, to enter the match, someone McIntyre has had a lot of issues with in the past.
However, things did not go McIntyre’s way as Jacob Fatu interfered to stop him from using a steel chair on Rhodes behind the referee’s back and eventually helped Cody Rhodes win the title.
Wade Barrett noted in commentary that McIntyre’s actions could lead to another suspension for the Scottish Psychopath after he was already in suspension before winning the WWE Championship in a Three Stages of Hell match against Rhodes in January.
Well, that may well lead to another suspension for [Drew] McIntyre.
WWE Fans Are Revolting Against Drew McIntyre’s Title Loss
Fans flooded the video of Cody Rhodes’ crowning moment with a large number of dislikes that edged close to 150k and counting, as compared to only about 32000 likes.
One commenter sarcastically noted that this wasn’t the “Road To WrestleMania” but rather the
road to “The most disliked WWE video of 2026”.
McIntyre’s Championship win in January had WWE fans elated, and they felt that he was sure to main event WrestleMania 42. However, as it stands, it will be Cody Rhodes versus Randy Orton for the WWE Championship on Night 1 of the event.
As for McIntyre, it remains to be seen what WWE has in store. A match against Jacob Fatu might be the inevitable option.
