WWE Hall Of Famer Criticizes CM Punk Line From Raw

CM Punk

A WWE Hall of Famer is wondering why CM Punk mentioned Hulk Hogan during a promo on Raw.

When WWE debuted Monday Night Raw on Netflix on January 6th in Los Angeles, there were a lot of memorable moments including promos from The Rock and John Cena as well as Roman Reigns beating Solo Sikoa and CM Punk’s big win over Seth Rollins in the main event.

There was also something that happened that became a news story outside of wrestling: Hulk Hogan was booed heavily. During a two-minute promo putting over WWE being on Netflix and promoting his “Real American Beer” brand, Hogan was booed loudly by the fans in Los Angeles.

After Hogan was booed, there have been some theories about why that is. Some people think that it is because Hogan endorsed US President Donald Trump and California is a Democratic state, so perhaps that’s why he was booed. Others will mention his racist comments in the past and many people feel he hasn’t been apologetic enough about those comments.

During an appearance on the January 20th edition of Raw, CM Punk was interviewed by Jackie Redmond talking about how he was going to win the Royal Rumble. Punk mentioned some of the other big names in the Rumble match. CM Punk also took a shot at Hulk Hogan, who likely won’t be in the Rumble match since he’s 71 years old and has had many back surgeries. Punk’s line got a lot of attention when he said this:

“You put Hulk Hogan in the Royal Rumble, I’ll throw his dusty ass over the top rope and I’ll kill Hulkamania once and for all.”

Bubba Ray Dudley Reacts To CM Punk Punk Promo: “Why Even Bring That Up?”

The WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray) is one of the co-hosts on the popular Busted Open Radio show. Bubba also has an interesting history with Hulk Hogan since he wrestled Hogan in TNA. While discussing what happened on Raw, Bubba wondered why Punk even spoke about Hogan like that.

“Punk talked about Hogan. Why talk about Hogan and throwing his ‘old, dusty ass’ over the top rope if you weren’t going to do that? Cause I think lots of people would love to see CM Punk eliminate Hulk Hogan from the Royal Rumble. That would be a massive deal.

Hogan would get a massive pop in the Rumble. I mean, I don’t know if he can do it physically, but I’m just like ‘Man, why even bring that up?'”

Since CM Punk is a babyface wrestler and is very aware of Hogan getting booed heavily, it’s possible that he said the line trashing Hogan to get a pop from the crowd. It certainly did get a reaction during the show and was a major talking point from Raw after the show as well.
